HTPO currently has the following positions available:

 

REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR

This position will provide the opportunity to complete all types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, plats, CIC, easement documents, and construction layout.  Responsibilities will include client communications and project management, research, computations, drafting, writing legal descriptions, and QA/QC.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Ten years of experience in land surveying.
  • Degree in land surveying or related field, and Minnesota licensed land surveyor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Three years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Strong math skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The capacity to work individually or in a team

SENIOR SURVEY CAD TECHNICIAN

The candidate will be responsible for preparing all types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, plats, CIC, easement documents, and computations for field crews.  The position has opportunities for project management, QA/QC, and supervision of work by others dependent upon experience.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Five years of experience with AutoCAD drafting and Civil 3D including working with surfaces, survey databases, and pipe networks.  MicroStation experience a plus.
  • Five years of experience in land surveying work and/or education in land surveying or related field. 
  • Strong math skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to work extended hours.
  • The capacity to work individually or in a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple assigned duties.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with employees, clients/contractors and the general public.

SURVEY FIELD TECHNICIAN

Survey field technician to assist crew chiefs with field surveying for all types of boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout. Survey field technician responsibilities include assisting with set up and operation of equipment and instruments to measure, record and calculate data for construction staking and other types of surveying. Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or NSPS Survey Technician Certification is a plus.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Two years experience in surveying or construction
  • Experience with, or ability to learn, Leica GPS and Robotic Total Station
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information, communicate with employees, clients/contractors and the general public, and to maintain routine written logs and simple records
  • Acceptable driving record and valid Class D driver’s license.

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to work extended hours, including some weekends, to accommodate Contractor’s schedule
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight stays, if needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.

SURVEY CREW CHIEF

Crew chief responsibilities include set up and operation of equipment and instruments used at job sites to measure, record and calculate data for all types of boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout. Provide communications to client and contractors, manage field data, maintain field notes and files, and review final drawings. Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or NSPS Certified Survey Technician—Level III certification required. RLS license is a plus.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Six years experience performing construction layout and land surveys or related activities
  • Experience with, or ability to learn, Leica GPS and Robotic Total Station
  • Being self-motivated, and able to work both individually and as a lead crew member
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information, communicate with employees, clients/contractors and the general public, and to maintain written logs and records
  • Acceptable driving record and valid Class D driver’s license.
