HTPO's full service planning, design and construction team consists of civil engineers, land surveyors, landscape architects, construction managers, inspectors, project managers, drafting and administrative staff, along with solid leadership that has guided the company for nearly four decades.

Current Opportunities

Survey Manager

Are you driven to produce quality work? Do you believe in the importance of integrity and honesty? Do you love variety and challenges? HTPO has a terrific opportunity for a land surveyor interested in management and leadership.

HTPO is a small business located in Eden Prairie that manages a diverse portfolio of project types and sizes. We provide both in-house and out-of -house training opportunities.

In a typical day you will:

  • Coordinate with clients, office staff and field crew to attain company’s goals and objectives
  • Supervise, support and train survey staff
  • Provide technical expertise and work with survey staff to establish and maintain procedures and quality standards. Ensure that company policies and practices are followed within the survey department
  • Manage a variety of surveys for public and private client
  • Responsible for the scheduling, performance and management of multiple survey projects and personnel
  • Prepare proposals and network with clients
  • Schedule and coordinate crew assignments
  • Monitor and forecast survey workload, staffing and budget
  • Develop client relationships and apply marketing strategies for business development

You need to have:

  • Professional Licensure in Minnesota for Land Surveying
  • Ten years of experience in land surveying and an understanding of construction
  • Three years of experience in project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

Survey Crew Chief

HTPO has an exciting new opportunity for a Survey Crew Chief. This is a full-time position with benefits, subject to a seasonal furlough.

In a typical week you may:

  • Work independently and as part of a survey team
  • Coordinate daily with field supervisor and project managers
  • Perform Alta surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction layout
  • Communicate with clients and contractors and provide positive client relations
  • Read and interpret construction plans
  • Manage field data, maintain field notes and files, review final drawings

Minimum qualifications:

  • Five years of experience performing construction layout and land surveys of related activities
  • Self-motivated, and able to work both individually and as a crew member
  • Good communication and organization skills with working knowledge of the English language sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information, communicate with employees, clients, contractors, and the general public, and to maintain written logs and records
  • Acceptable driving record and valid Class D driver's license

Desired qualifications:

  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT), Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), or NSPS Certified Survey Technician Level I-III
  • Experience with Leica GPS and Robotic Total Station
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Microstation experience

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to work extended hours, including some weekends, to accommodate Contractor's schedule
  • Ability to travel, including occasional overnight stays, if needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain conditions
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifiting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
