Current Opportunities


HTPO has a terrific opportunity for a CAD Technician who has experience or is interested in learning about surveying and mapping.

In a typical week you may:

  • Coordinate with a high-quality team of surveyors
  • Set-up drawings and work with survey field data
  • Draft boundary and topographic surveys, plans and easement exhibits
  • Assist with boundary and area computations
  • Collect site research documents
  • Call for utility locates

You need to have:

  • Five years of experience with AutoCAD. Experience with Civil 3D and MicroStation a plus.
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail

In a typical week you may:

  • Prepare a wide variety of surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, subdivision plats, right of way and easement surveys, large area coordinate systems/aerial photo control surveys.
  • Assist technical staff
  • Provide quality control/quality assurance
  • Utilize property research skills
  • Communicate with clients and project team

You need to have:

  • Professional Licensure in Minnesota or LSIT with ability to obtain Professional Licensure within three years
  • Eight years of experience in land surveying
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong math computation skills
  • Proficient computer skills including AutoCAD with Civil 3D and MicroStation a plus.
  • A desire to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our clients


HTPO is expanding our survey department and has an excellent opportunity for a survey technician who enjoys working both indoors and outdoors.

In a typical week you may:

  • Set up coordinates for survey crews
  • Interpret field notes and determine benchmark(s)
  • Assist with computations
  • Draft surveys
  • Support and assist survey crews by collecting site documents, calling for utility locates, setting up files
  • Work in the field supporting survey crew chiefs for boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction layout

You need to have:

  • Five years of surveying experience. Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or NSPS Survey Technician Certification is preferred, but not required
  • Two years of experience with AutoCAD. Experience with Civil 3D and MicroStation a plus.
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Acceptable driving record and a valid Class D driver's license
  • Are able to work extended hours to accommodates our client's schedules and travel as needed
  • Can lift approximately 50 lbs. and do repetitive work such as lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time and can work in all types of weather and terrain


Are you a skilled accountant with small business experience? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant.

In addition to daily accounting tasks, you will be a hands-on-manager with responsibilities including:

  • Balancing bank accounts and issuing monthly financial statements
  • Managing the company’s cash position, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Researching, presenting and implementing best practices that support company profitability, culture and growth
  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly client billing
  • Supporting department managers with hiring, reviewing, onboarding and personnel issues
  • Coordinating with clients, external accountants, and industry agencies such as MnDOT and the Metropolitan Council  
  • Overseeing the operations of the administrative department
  • Participating in and supporting special projects and audits

Strong candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration and at least five years of proven work experience in accounting and administration with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.  They will be PC proficient, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and detail oriented.  They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; be able to problem solve and to navigate and resolve conflicting priorities.  They will demonstrate a positive attitude, be self-motivated and have the drive to do what is necessary to meet deadlines and satisfy our clients. Experience with time and expense accounting software (Clearview InFocus) and in the Engineering/Architecture/Construction industry a plus.
